'...2 days ago I hear on MTV that Justin Bieber had a disease and that he is really 33 years old, then later on he was actually his real age (16) but this disease make him look like a 12..'
like, Whattttttt?
Ok, whatever! Berbalik kepada cerita jerawats ku yang menyedihkan.. (sedihhhh), mula2 aku ingat pasal salah pakai masker (Sephora's Green Tea mask), then ada la officemate aku yang kata hormone aku tak balance.. Well, could be! One of the many reasons, I guess.
Studies have traced the cause of acne to one thing: hormonal fluctuations. Whether brought on by lifestyle (stress, diet), PMS, pregnancy, or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the result is the same—an increase in cortisol (also known as the stress hormone), which gets broken down into testosterone, a male hormone that pumps excess oil through your pores. "When your hormones are out of whack, your skin's oil production may go into overdrive, causing an acne flare-up," says Zeichner.
And it doesn't take a midlife crisis for it to happen. "Even a moderate amount of daily stress—like balancing a career and a social life, or coming home from work and having to cook dinner for your family—is enough to trigger a breakout," says Ava Shamban, M.D., assistant clinical professor of dermatology at UCLA and author of Heal Your Skin. Smoking can also spark a breakout: A study in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology showed an association between lighting up and adult acne (specifically, whiteheads and blackheads) in women. Aku cuba beli Oxy (sebab adik aku yang punya banyak jerawat pakai hat ni), - Nampak narr sangat naïve dalam kes jerawat, huhuhuhuhu - but after some googling around, aku baru tau yang most of the products are for teens - obviously, sigh - dan kulit remaja berbeza dengan kulit dewasa, sebab kulit remaja lebih tebal; manakala kulit dewasa lebih nipis.
Sebelum ni, aku try scrub every other day (I've been advised so), tapi mcm makin teruk ajek.. betul, lepas scrub tu jadi licin sekejap sebab kita dah buang segala kotoran2 dan segalanya tapi dia jadi macam lagi prone to breakouts. Then aku pi la bubuh Oxy 10 tiap2 malam. Pun macam lagi worse.
Cleansers: Cetaphil and Aquanil are the most gentle. Avoid too-strong gels and products containing beads or granules, which are abrasive and can irritate and worsen sensitive skin.
Creams and lotions: Use an over-the-counter retinol product to clean pores and help reduce fine wrinkles. Prevent discoloration and fade acne scars with products that contain salicylic and glycolic acids. And to spot-treat a breakout, use a product with benzoyl peroxide, which helps kill bacteria.
Prescription medications: The topical antibiotic clindamycin helps fight bacteria in the skin; so does tetracycline, another antibiotic, taken orally. Oral contraceptives and spironolactone, a blood pressure drug, can help balance hormones. A gel containing dapsone, an antibiotic, helps fight infection and inflammation involved in acne.
High-tech solutions: Laser and intense pulsed light treatments mainly target scars, but blue light therapy treatments kill acne-causing bacteria. These treatments are costly, though, so explore your other options first. (source: WebMD)
